An Ass? An Elephant? What’s the difference, both belong outside? Monday, Jul 4 2011

It seems as if I am compelled to say the following:
Both political parties are unworthy of their perpetual existence.

At the very least, an ass transported the Christian God into Jerusalem.

I have found that, unfortunately, a two party system is not a system able to fulfill the needs of the people. Moreover, a system that does not provide an excellent education to all that are willing and able, is not a system that does not fulfill the needs of the people.

People are speaking of anarchy now-a-days. Why wouldn’t they. People are losing hope in the political puppets that they elect in order to replace the previous terms’ puppets.

Of all people, Catholics, should not identify themselves with a political party, if they are also going to identify themselves as Catholics. We shall continue on this and more later.

Universals versus Particulars… Psychology and value Sunday, Jul 3 2011

Aristotle writes in the Physics, BK I:

we even see men of experience succeeding more than those who have theory without experience…the reason for this is that experience is knowledge of individuals, and art of universals, [thus] actions and productions are all concerned with the individual’ for the physician does not cure a man, except in an incidental way [for] if a man has theory without experience, and knows the universal but doesn’t not know the individual included in this, he will often fail to cure; for it is the individual that is to be cured.

Today, we are faced with the problem of sciences, especially Psychology, wanting to dive deeper into the realm of universals. Has the attention been given to the universals while taking value away from the individual. It does seem, at times, that we see doctors, scientists and thinkers, give an incredible amount of time, studying ‘John’ in order to better understand everyone else.

The problem we are faced with here, is that we are not treating, learning about and caring for John for the sake of mankind. Yet we ought to be treating, learning about and caring for John for the sake of John. Moreover, our desire for knowledge should come from the opposite part of the ladder. In love, which is the only topic, idea, action, emotion, state that one should strive to live in, or act upon, we will do what it takes, to better understand universals, in order to better serve our fellow particular.

Part One, of the Way Saturday, Jul 2 2011

The tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.
The Name that can be named is not the eternal Name.

The unnamable is the eternally real.
Naming is the origin of all particular things.

Free from desire, you realize the mystery.
Caught in desire, you see only the manifestations.

Yet mystery and manifestations arise from the same source.
This source is called darkness.

Darkness within darkness.
The gateway to all understanding.

Lao Tzu opens up the Tao Te Ching with claiming that the way that can be told, is not the eternal way.
This is the theme of the entirety of part one. Ignorance leads to truth, yet not blind ignorance, admittance of it and acceptance of the truth as it is revealed. Often we make the mistake of trying to take the truth as we see fit, this is a mistake. The proper form of learning, is to remain in the spectator state, and allowing truth to reveal itself in accordance with it self.

Hopeless Romantic? Friday, Jul 1 2011

If you were to ask me, how a flower reminds me of you
I’d share with you that its simplicity holds its beauty
That it grows in the light and remains whole in the darkness

If you were to ask me how a star reminds me of you
I’d share with you that it shines like no other, regardless of the hour
You may not always see it, but it remains luminous at all times

If you were to ask me how the sun reminds me of you
I’d share with you that she never lets me suffer from the cold
She always brings warmth to my heart and soul

If you were to ask me how the ocean reminds me of you
I’d share with you that I am at times overwhelmed by it
I don’t know its vastness, but love it wholly

If you were to ask me how a butterfly reminds me of you
I’d share with you that its beauty is a sign of its freedom
It can’t be caught by my hands… it has to come to me

If you were to ask me how the seasons remind me of you
I’d share with you that, each season is a part of intrinsic beauty which God designed,
and its very essence allows us to learn and grow through necessity

If you were to ask me how my own heart reminds me of you
I couldn’t share much and would remain silent,
because my heart is in your hands

If you were to ask me what it means to love
with your whole heart and soul
I’d show you a mirror and let it reflect how I love you
